If you’ve tried exporting Instagram comments before and it didn’t work, don’t worry — this usually happens when the post is private or when you want to include likes on comments.
In this guide, we’ll show you how to export private Instagram comments and their like counts using ExportComments, without installing risky software or compromising your device.
What You’ll Need
- An active ExportComments account
- Access to the Instagram post (you must be logged in to Instagram)
- A valid Instagram sessionid
Step 1: Copy the Instagram Post Link
Open Instagram and copy the link of the post you want to export comments from.

Step 2: Provide Your Instagram
sessionid
(Advanced Mode)
To export private comments and likes on comments, Instagram requires authentication.
This is done using Advanced Mode, where you provide your Instagram sessionid cookie.
You have two easy options:
Option A (Recommended): Use the Chrome Extension
Install our official Chrome extension to automatically retrieve your session cookie:
This is the fastest and safest method.
Option B: Get the Cookie Manually
If you prefer, you can retrieve the cookie manually from your browser:

Step 3: Start the Export
Once you have:
- The post link
- Advanced Mode enabled
- A valid sessionid
Click Start Export and wait a few seconds for the process to finish.
Your file will be ready to download with:
- All visible comments
- Likes per comment (when available)
Important Notes
- Likes on Instagram comments are only available in Advanced Mode
- Your Instagram account must have access to the post
- If the session expires, simply refresh it and retry
- Export speed depends on post size and Instagram limitations
